Conventional macro photography gets wonderfully close. I wanted to keep going, and the part I needed to connect my camera to a microscope did not exist in the form I wanted, so I designed and printed it.
The problem was alignment
A microscope is designed for an eye at the eyepiece, not a camera sensor. The camera needs to sit in the right place, square to the optical path, and stay stable enough that tiny adjustments do not destroy the composition.
That turned the project into equal parts photography and fabrication: measure, model, print, test, find the next interference or alignment issue, and repeat.

The tool changes what I notice
Once the setup worked, ordinary subjects became visually unfamiliar. A ring stopped being only a ring and became reflections, edges, machining, and surface texture. A leaf became a field of veins and droplets. An insect became color, structure, and detail that the unaided eye skips past.
This is creative imaging, not lab documentation
The adapter is a handmade photographic tool. I use it to make expressive images, experiment with scale, and solve unusual visual problems. I do not present the setup as calibrated scientific or laboratory imaging.
What it is useful for
Jewelry, small products, components, natural specimens, material surfaces, maker stories, and editorial concepts can all benefit from a view that does not look like conventional product photography.
